NEWS - BERNIE HULLIN VETERANS TENS |

Bernie Hullin first played for Swansea Uplands in 1947 and played for the club during 5 decades, 6 decades if you include that he continued to appear in Veterans matches in the 1990s. During that period Bernie also appeared for many other clubs and never missed an opportunity for a match no matter for whom, where or who provided the opposition. Bernie was a dedicated tourist and genuine rugby man. Bernie celebrated his 80th birthday on January 28th 2006 but sadly passed away just eight weeks later on 24th March last year. With his passing, we all lost a friend and rugby lost one of its great characters. With the agreement of Bernie’s family we propose to hold a Veterans Tens Festival at Swansea Uplands RFC on Sunday 29th April 2007 both in Bernie’s memory and also to raise money for a charity of their choosing. Teams will comprise 5 forwards and 5 backs and play matches of 10 minutes each way. The objective is enjoyment. We would be pleased if interested clubs would contact Richard Gwynn to enter a team and participate in the sort of rugby occasion which Bernie so enjoyed.
